About Sport Syntax

AI-powered sports journalism for the modern fan.

Our Mission

Sport Syntax was founded with a clear goal: deliver fast, accurate sports coverage without the noise. We believe sports fans deserve reliable reporting that gets to the point — breaking news when it happens, context that explains why it matters, and analysis that helps you understand what comes next.

We cover five major North American sports leagues: the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and MLS. From roster transactions and injury updates to game analysis and offseason moves, Sport Syntax aims to be a comprehensive, trustworthy resource for the modern sports fan.

Who We Are

Sport Syntax is an independent sports media platform built by a team of developers and sports enthusiasts who saw an opportunity to improve how sports news is delivered online. Our team combines expertise in software engineering, data analysis, and sports journalism to build a platform that prioritizes speed, accuracy, and transparency.

We are based in the United States and operate entirely online. Our coverage spans all time zones and all five leagues, with articles published around the clock as news develops.

How We Work

Sport Syntax uses a hybrid approach to content creation that combines artificial intelligence with editorial oversight. Here is how our process works:

  1. News monitoring — Our system continuously monitors official sports news sources, including ESPN, league press releases, team announcements, and credentialed reporters, for newsworthy developments across all five leagues.
  2. Quality filtering — Each news item is scored for importance based on timeliness, the significance of the entities involved, the type of event, and source credibility. Only items that meet our threshold proceed to content generation.
  3. AI-assisted drafting — An AI writing agent produces an initial draft from verified source material, following our editorial guidelines for structure, tone, and accuracy.
  4. Automated editorial review — A separate AI editor reviews the draft for factual accuracy, completeness, clarity, and adherence to our style. The writer revises based on feedback, and this loop may iterate multiple times.
  5. Publication decision — Articles that meet our high-confidence threshold are published automatically. Articles below that threshold are flagged for human editorial review before publication.

This process allows us to deliver breaking news within minutes of a development while maintaining the editorial rigor readers expect. For a detailed look at our standards, visit our Editorial Policy page.

Editorial Standards

Accuracy and transparency are foundational principles at Sport Syntax. We hold ourselves to the following standards:

  • Source verification — We prioritize primary sources: official team and league announcements, press conferences, and credentialed beat reporters.
  • Direct attribution — Every article includes a "Sources & Original Reporting" section linking to the original sources, so readers can verify details independently.
  • Corrections process — When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and document the change. Visit our Corrections page to report an error.
  • AI transparency — All content generated with AI assistance is clearly disclosed. We believe readers have a right to know how our content is produced.
