Free-agent infielder Ramón Urías has reached an agreement on a one-year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. The deal bolsters the Cardinals' infield depth with a proven veteran presence.
The contract is worth a total of $2 million guaranteed, per Rosenthal. Urías will earn a $1.5 million salary for the 2026 season, and the deal includes a mutual option for 2027. If the option is declined, the infielder will receive a $500,000 buyout. Furthermore, the agreement includes performance-based incentives that could add another $2 million to the total value, triggered by specific plate appearance milestones.
Urías, a former Gold Glove winner, spent the last five seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. He provides the Cardinals with significant defensive flexibility, having logged professional innings at third base, second base, and shortstop. His addition comes as St. Louis looks to solidify its roster ahead of the upcoming campaign.
