The Philadelphia 76ers are signing big man Charles Bassey to a 10-day contract, per Shams Charania of ESPN. Bassey is currently in his fifth NBA season and returns to the franchise that originally drafted him into the league.
Bassey has spent the current season playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G League. During his time with Santa Cruz, the center has been highly productive, averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds per game. His performance in the developmental league paved the way for this 10-day opportunity with Philadelphia, as the team looks to bolster its interior rotation.
The 6-foot-10 big man was selected by the 76ers with the 53rd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. Following his initial tenure in Philadelphia, Bassey spent time with the San Antonio Spurs, where he appeared in 87 games over two seasons. He brings career NBA averages of 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game to the 76ers roster.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
