The Portland Trail Blazers are signing guard Chris Youngblood to a two-way NBA contract, according to agent Kashim Butler of KBA Sports via ESPN. Youngblood joins the Portland organization after previously serving as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder system.
Youngblood makes the move to Portland from the OKC Blue, the Thunder’s G League affiliate. As a rookie last season, the guard appeared in 32 games while on a two-way deal with Oklahoma City. This signing allows the Trail Blazers to bolster their backcourt depth while utilizing one of their three available two-way roster spots.
Per NBA rules, players on two-way contracts can be active for up to 50 games with their parent NBA club. When not with the Blazers, Youngblood is expected to see action with their G League affiliate, the Rip City Remix. The move marks a return to the NBA ranks for Youngblood after beginning the current cycle in the G League.
