The Boston Celtics are signing guard Max Shulga to a standard two-year contract, according to sources via ESPN. Shulga, who has been playing under a two-way agreement, will now occupy a spot on the Celtics' primary 15-man roster.

A native of Ukraine, Shulga joined the organization after being selected by the Celtics with the No. 57 overall pick in the NBA draft this past June. He has spent the current season playing for the Maine Celtics, Boston's NBA G League affiliate. During his tenure in the G League, Shulga has appeared in the rotation for Maine as he transitioned to the professional level following a decorated collegiate career.

Before entering the NBA, Shulga played four seasons of college basketball. He spent his first three years at Utah State, where he helped lead the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament. He then transferred to VCU for the 2023-24 season, where he averaged 14.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. His performance with the Rams earned him a selection to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team and the All-Academic Team.

The move to a standard contract allows Shulga to be available for the Celtics throughout the remainder of the season and the playoffs without the game-count restrictions associated with a two-way deal. Per ESPN, the contract covers the remainder of this season and the following campaign.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
