The Memphis Grizzlies are trading forward Santi Aldama to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for AJ Johnson, a protected 2030 Golden State Warriors first-round pick, and two future second-round picks, per ESPN.
Aldama, a versatile 6-foot-11 forward, has been a consistent contributor for the Grizzlies since being selected in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. Known for his ability to stretch the floor and provide interior depth, Aldama averaged 10.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last season. He now joins a Mavericks squad looking to reinforce its frontcourt rotation around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
In return, the Grizzlies receive AJ Johnson, a young prospect with high upside, along with significant draft capital. The inclusion of the 2030 protected first-round pick from the Warriors provides Memphis with a valuable long-term asset as they continue to manage their roster flexibility. The deal also includes two future second-round selections to complete the package for the Spanish international.
