Onyenso, a 7-foot center out of the University of Kentucky, was selected by New York late in the second round before the agreement with Detroit was finalized. During his collegiate career with the Wildcats, Onyenso established himself as a premier rim protector, notably averaging 2.8 blocks per game during his sophomore campaign. The move allows the Detroit Pistons to add a young defensive prospect to their frontcourt rotation as they continue their rebuilding process.
