The Los Angeles Lakers have traded the No. 56 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Vsevolod Ishchenko, to the Dallas Mavericks, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. The transaction was completed during the second round of the draft on Thursday.
Ishchenko, a guard from Ukraine, was officially selected by the Lakers before the trade agreement with the Mavericks was reported. The 19-year-old prospect has spent recent seasons playing in Europe and was among the final selections in the two-day draft event. He now joins a Dallas organization that is looking to integrate young talent into their system following a trip to the NBA Finals.
As of now, the specific compensation or assets returning to the Lakers in the deal have not been disclosed. This move follows the Lakers' earlier selection of Bronny James at No. 55. The Mavericks will now hold the draft rights to Ishchenko as teams move toward the start of the NBA Summer League in July.
