Orlando Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman has signed a contract extension with the franchise and will immediately lead the search for the team's next head coach, according to @ShamsCharania.
The extension for Weltman was reportedly finalized just prior to Orlando’s recent competitive run to the NBA Cup final four. With his long-term future secured, Weltman now shifts his focus to identifying a successor for Jamahl Mosley. The leadership change comes despite a period of sustained regular-season success for the organization.
During his tenure, Mosley led the Magic to two division titles and three consecutive winning seasons. These accomplishments were achieved while the team navigated a litany of roster challenges and injuries over the past several years. Weltman, who has been the primary architect of the current Orlando roster, will now oversee the formal process of selecting the next head coach to lead the young core.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
