The Miami Heat are signing guard Jahmir Young to a new two-year contract, agent Scott Nichols told ESPN on Friday. The move transitions Young from a two-way contract to a standard NBA deal, securing his position on the team's active roster for the foreseeable future.
The roster opening was created after the Heat officially waived veteran guard Terry Rozier. By elevating Young, the Miami front office continues its long-standing tradition of developing talent through its internal pipeline. Young, an undrafted standout out of Maryland, has impressed the coaching staff during his tenure with the organization, earning this multi-year commitment to fill the 15th roster spot.
Prior to this signing, Young had been split between the Heat and their G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The promotion allows Miami to maintain backcourt depth following the departure of Rozier. Financial terms of the agreement have not yet been made public by the team or Nichols.
