Georgetown and New York Knicks legend Patrick Ewing has agreed to become an assistant coach for the Washington Wizards under head coach Brian Keefe, according to sources via ESPN. The Hall of Famer returns to the NBA coaching ranks after a stint at the collegiate level and a recent front-office role.

Ewing has most recently been serving in an ambassador role with the New York Knicks. His move to the Wizards marks a return to the sidelines in Washington, D.C., where he previously served as the head coach for Georgetown University from 2017 to 2023. Ewing also has extensive experience as an NBA assistant coach, including a previous tenure with the Wizards during the 2002-2003 season, as well as roles with the Houston Rockets, Orlando Magic, and Charlotte Hornets.

The addition of Ewing to Brian Keefe's staff is expected to bolster the development of the Wizards' roster. Known as one of the greatest centers in NBA history, Ewing brings decades of professional experience to a Washington team currently focused on internal growth and veteran leadership on the bench.
