The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to trade two-time NBA All-Star Ja Morant to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Jerami Grant and Kris Murray, according to sources via ESPN.
Morant, 24, has been the cornerstone of the Grizzlies franchise since being selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. A former Rookie of the Year and Most Improved Player, Morant has established himself as one of the league's premier guards, earning two All-Star nods and an All-NBA Second Team selection in 2022. He averaged 25.1 points and 8.1 assists per game during his most recent healthy campaign.
In return, the Grizzlies receive veteran forward Jerami Grant, who averaged 21.0 points per game for the Trail Blazers last season. Grant brings significant wing depth and defensive versatility to the Memphis roster. Also headed to Memphis is Kris Murray, a 2023 first-round draft pick who recently completed his rookie season in Portland.
The blockbuster deal represents a major shift for both organizations as they look to reshape their rosters. Morant now joins a Trail Blazers squad in the midst of a rebuilding phase, while Memphis adds veteran scoring and young frontcourt depth.
