The Memphis Grizzlies have officially moved to solidify their future frontcourt, rewarding one of their most promising young talents for a late-season breakout. On Wednesday, the team announced that they have signed forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper to a multiyear contract, promoting him from a two-way deal to the standard 15-man roster.
Grizzlies Reward Olivier-Maxence Prosper for Breakout Surge
The move comes as Olivier-Maxence Prosper, affectionately known as "O-Max" by fans, has become a fixture in the Grizzlies' rotation. According to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the deal is a two-year contract. The opening on the standard roster was created after Rayan Rupert's 10-day contract expired, allowing Memphis to secure Prosper’s services beyond the current season.
Prosper has been nothing short of spectacular over the last month. Since moving into a more prominent role in early February, the 23-year-old Canadian forward has seen his production skyrocket. In his last 10 outings, which included seven starts, Prosper averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. Perhaps most impressively, he has displayed elite efficiency during this stretch, shooting 61.1% from the floor and 43.2% from three-point range.
A Strategic Addition to the Memphis Rotation
Standing 6-foot-7 with a massive wingspan and elite athleticism, Prosper fits the defensive-minded culture the Grizzlies have long cultivated. While his early career was marked by inconsistent shooting, his recent development in Memphis suggests he has found his rhythm. His season averages through 36 games now stand at 7.6 points and 3.1 rebounds in just 15.8 minutes per contest.
By converting his contract now, the Grizzlies ensure that Prosper will be eligible for postseason play, should the team navigate the play-in race, and more importantly, they eliminate the 50-game limit associated with two-way contracts. This allows head coach Taylor Jenkins to utilize Prosper without restriction for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.
From Dallas to Memphis: The Journey of O-Max
Prosper’s path to a multiyear deal in Memphis was far from linear. Originally selected 24th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings and immediately traded to the Dallas Mavericks, the Marquette product struggled to find consistent minutes in a crowded Mavericks rotation. He was eventually waived by Dallas in August 2025 as a cap casualty to facilitate other roster moves.
The Grizzlies acted quickly, signing him to a two-way contract just days later. That gamble has now paid off handsomely for Zach Kleiman and the Memphis front office. Prosper joins a core of young wings—including GG Jackson II and Jaylen Wells—that the Grizzlies hope will form the foundation of their next era of contention.
Looking Ahead
With the signing of Olivier-Maxence Prosper to a multiyear contract, the Grizzlies have successfully turned a low-risk two-way flyer into a legitimate rotation piece. As the team continues its youth-led rebuild, Prosper's defensive versatility and improved perimeter shooting make him a vital asset for the 2026-27 season and beyond.
