The Cincinnati Bengals have signed veteran quarterback Josh Johnson to a one-year contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The deal brings Johnson back to Cincinnati for a third stint with the franchise, having previously spent time with the organization in 2013 and 2015. Per @RapSheet, the move is intended to bolster the team's depth behind franchise starter Joe Burrow as the Bengals head into their 2026 offseason program.

Johnson, 39, is one of the most well-traveled players in NFL history, having appeared in 50 career regular-season games with 11 starts for teams including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, Washington, New York Jets, Baltimore Ravens, and San Francisco 49ers. Throughout his career, he has recorded 2,669 passing yards and 14 touchdowns.

The signing comes as the Bengals continue to evaluate their quarterback room. Cincinnati offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher recently emphasized the importance of finding an experienced backup who can step in at any moment. Johnson joins a depth chart that has seen significant movement recently, following the team's acquisition of Joe Flacco late last season.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
