The San Francisco 49ers are signing former Pittsburgh Steelers punter Corliss Waitman, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Waitman’s agent, Alexa Stabler, confirmed the agreement on Tuesday, per reports from Pelissero and "The Insiders." The veteran punter joins the 49ers as the team continues to refine its special teams roster ahead of the upcoming season.

Corliss Waitman originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of South Alabama in 2020. He has significant professional experience, having served as the primary punter for the Denver Broncos during the 2022 season. In that campaign, Waitman appeared in all 17 games, recording 96 punts for 4,476 yards, averaging 46.6 yards per kick.

Prior to his time in Denver, Waitman played for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021, where he appeared in two games and averaged an impressive 52.1 yards per punt. His career has also included stints with the New England Patriots and Chicago Bears organizations.

Waitman will now look to secure a role in San Francisco as the team evaluates its specialist positions. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
