Veteran defensive lineman Al-Quadin Muhammad is visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to a report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The veteran edge rusher is meeting with the team as they look to potentially bolster their defensive front ahead of the upcoming season.
Muhammad, 29, brings significant experience to the Bucs' radar. Originally a sixth-round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2017, he is best known for his productive tenure with the Indianapolis Colts. His most successful season came in 2021, where he started 17 games and recorded a career-high 6.0 sacks along with 48 total tackles.
Following his time in Indianapolis, Muhammad spent the 2022 season with the Chicago Bears, appearing in 16 games and recording 29 tackles. He also spent time on the practice squads for both the Colts and the Dallas Cowboys during the 2023 campaign. Throughout his seven-year NFL career, he has appeared in 84 games, totaling 157 tackles and 12 career sacks.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been evaluating veteran options to provide depth and a veteran presence to a defensive unit led by head coach Todd Bowles. If a deal is reached, Muhammad would serve as a rotational piece in a pass-rushing group that looks to maintain consistency throughout the year.
