The Chicago Bears are signing safety Coby Bryant, according to a report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The addition provides the Bears with a versatile defensive back as they continue to shape their roster for the 2024 season.

Coby Bryant joins the Bears after a stint with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was originally selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. A former Jim Thorpe Award winner at the University of Cincinnati, Bryant has demonstrated the ability to play multiple positions in the secondary, including nickel cornerback and safety. During his two seasons in Seattle, he appeared in 33 games, recording 102 total tackles and four forced fumbles.

The move to sign Coby Bryant comes as Chicago looks to bolster its defensive depth behind starters Jaquan Brisker and Kevin Byard. Bryant's experience as a hybrid defender offers defensive coordinator Eric Washington additional flexibility in sub-packages and special teams units. Terms of the agreement have not yet been made public by the organization.
