The Cincinnati Bengals have continued their aggressive defensive rebuild, reaching an agreement with former Seattle Seahawks edge rusher Boye Mafe, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The deal is reportedly a three-year contract worth $60 million. Mafe, 27, joins the Bengals after a highly productive tenure in Seattle, where he recorded 20 sacks and 164 tackles over 65 regular-season games. He was a key contributor to the Seahawks' recent Super Bowl LX run and is expected to provide immediate pass-rushing help for a Cincinnati unit that struggled to generate consistent pressure last season.
This signing marks the second major defensive addition for the Bengals in the early hours of free agency. Earlier this week, the team secured former Kansas City Chiefs safety Bryan Cook on a three-year, $40.25 million deal. The Bengals are clearly prioritizing their defense following a 2025 campaign where they finished near the bottom of the AFC in yards allowed and missed the postseason for the third consecutive year.
The move comes as the team manages the expected departure of veteran star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson in free agency. By landing Mafe, the Bengals' front office is addressing a critical need for youth and explosiveness on the edge to support a roster led by quarterback Joe Burrow.
