The Buffalo Bills are releasing wide receiver Curtis Samuel, according to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN on Friday. The move comes as a significant adjustment to the Buffalo roster as the team continues to refine its offensive depth chart.
Samuel joined the Bills during the offseason, signing a three-year contract worth $24 million with the expectation that he would serve as a versatile weapon for quarterback Josh Allen. His release marks a sudden departure for a player who was projected to play a major role in a revamped receiving corps following the exits of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis earlier this year.
A veteran of seven NFL seasons, Samuel previously spent time with the Carolina Panthers and the Washington Commanders. Known for his elite speed and ability to contribute in both the passing and running games, he has accumulated over 3,300 receiving yards and 22 receiving touchdowns in his career, along with 715 rushing yards. With Samuel now headed to the open market, the Bills will look toward Khalil Shakir, Mack Hollins, and rookie Keon Coleman to shoulder the workload in the passing game.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
