The Buffalo Bills have agreed to terms with veteran defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson on a one-year contract, according to @TomPelissero of NFL Network.
The move brings a highly versatile playmaker to the Buffalo secondary as the team continues to reshape its defensive unit for the upcoming season. Gardner-Johnson, known for his ability to play both nickel cornerback and safety, joins the Bills after most recently spending time with the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles. He originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2019.
Throughout his five-year career, Gardner-Johnson has established himself as a premier ball-hawk, recording 12 career interceptions and 39 pass deflections. His addition provides the Bills with significant depth and veteran experience in a secondary that has undergone transition this offseason. The one-year agreement allows the veteran to join a perennial contender while providing Buffalo with a proven defensive weapon capable of playing multiple roles in their scheme.
