Denver Broncos owners Carrie and Greg Penner have expanded their commitment to the Denver sports community through a significant minority investment in the Colorado Rockies, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The investment was executed through Penner Sports Group, the family entity that holds their ownership interest in the Broncos. This move further solidifies the Penner family's presence in the regional sports market just two years after they led the record-breaking $4.65 billion acquisition of Denver's NFL franchise.
Greg Penner, who serves as the CEO of the Broncos, and Carrie Walton Penner have been increasingly active in the local community since taking over the football team in 2022. By joining the Rockies ownership group as minority partners, they now hold interests in two of the city's major professional sports organizations. The Rockies continue to be led by the Monfort family, who have owned the MLB club since its inception.
