The Cleveland Browns are finalizing a blockbuster trade to send star defensive end Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
In exchange for the two-time Defensive Player of the Year, the Browns are expected to receive Pro Bowl pass rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft pick, and additional draft compensation that is still being negotiated. The transaction follows a strategic contract restructure in March that allowed Cleveland to spread out the dead cap hit by waiting until after the June 1 deadline to execute the move.
Browns General Manager Andrew Berry confirmed that trade talks are currently underway but emphasized that the deal has not yet been signed. "We hope to have something done in the near future," Berry stated Monday, noting that a final update is expected as soon as tomorrow.
Garrett, 30, departs Cleveland after nine seasons and a franchise-record sack count. The move signals a major shift for the Browns' defense while providing the Rams with a premier edge rusher as they push for another Super Bowl run. Verse, 24, returns to the AFC after earning back-to-back Pro Bowl nods in his first two professional seasons.
