The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially signed free-agent quarterback Jake Browning and veteran defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson, according to @AdamSchefter of ESPN.
The move significantly bolsters the Buccaneers roster as they look to build on their recent postseason success. Jake Browning enters the fold after a breakout 2023 season with the Cincinnati Bengals. Stepping in for the injured Joe Burrow, Browning completed over 70% of his passes and threw for 1,936 yards and 12 touchdowns across nine starts, proving himself as a capable signal-caller in the NFL. In Tampa Bay, he is expected to provide high-level depth behind starter Baker Mayfield.
Defensively, the signing of A’Shawn Robinson adds a physical presence to the trenches. Robinson, who spent the 2023 season with the New York Giants, recorded 62 tackles while appearing in all 17 games. A veteran of eight seasons, Robinson also played a key role in the Los Angeles Rams' Super Bowl LVI victory. His experience will be vital for a Buccaneers defense that prides itself on stopping the run and maintaining a strong interior rotation.
The financial terms of the deals have not yet been disclosed by the team. These signings mark a proactive step by the Tampa Bay front office to secure proven talent and veteran leadership ahead of the upcoming season.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
