Veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell is signing with the Miami Dolphins, according to @AdamSchefter of ESPN. The six-time Pro Bowler joins Miami as he prepares to enter his 17th season in the NFL.
Campbell remains one of the most consistent performers in the league despite his lengthy tenure. His sustained excellence is highlighted by the fact that he was previously voted to the NFL’s 2010 All-Decade team, per Schefter. The veteran defender spent the 2023 season with the Atlanta Falcons, where he proved to be a durable and effective presence on the line of scrimmage.
During his lone season in Atlanta, Campbell started all 17 games and tied for the team lead with 6.5 sacks. He also recorded 56 total tackles and 17 quarterback hits. His arrival in Miami reunites him with Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, who served as Campbell's defensive line coach during their tenure with the Baltimore Ravens.
The 37-year-old Campbell brings veteran leadership to a Dolphins defense that has seen significant personnel changes this offseason. Over his career with the Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Ravens, and Falcons, he has amassed 105.5 career sacks and over 800 tackles.
