The Arizona Cardinals are planning to hire Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur as their new head coach, according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Mike LaFleur emerged as a top candidate early in the Cardinals' search process. Known as a bright young offensive mind, LaFleur most recently served as the coordinator for the Rams under Sean McVay. He is the younger brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, making them the latest pair of brothers to hold head coaching positions simultaneously in the NFL.
The move comes after Arizona conducted extensive due diligence to find the right leader for the franchise. LaFleur’s rise through the coaching ranks included a significant stint as the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets and several years as a key assistant under Kyle Shanahan with the San Francisco 49ers. He is expected to begin assembling his coaching staff in the coming days as the Cardinals transition into a new era.
