The Los Angeles Chargers have officially placed an exclusive rights tender on running back Kimani Vidal while securing contract extensions for running back Jaret Patterson and safety Kendall Williamson, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
By placing the exclusive rights tender on Vidal, the Chargers ensure the young running back remains under team control for the 2025 season. Vidal was a sixth-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft and provided valuable depth to the backfield during his rookie campaign.
In addition to the move for Vidal, the Chargers have retained Jaret Patterson. The former Buffalo standout and Washington Commander spent time on the Chargers' practice squad and active roster last season, and this extension solidifies his place in the rotation heading into the offseason. On the defensive side of the ball, the team reached an agreement with safety Kendall Williamson to keep him in Los Angeles. Williamson originally entered the league as a draft pick for the Chicago Bears before joining the Chargers' organization.
These moves represent a key step in roster maintenance for the Chargers' front office as they look to build out their depth charts for the upcoming training camp and preseason schedule under the current coaching staff. These transactions ensure that several contributors from the 2024 season will remain in the fold as the team prepares for the year ahead.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
