The Kansas City Chiefs have officially requested permission to interview Las Vegas Raiders running backs coach Deland McCullough for their vacant running backs coach position, according to @AdamSchefter of ESPN.
McCullough is a familiar face for the organization, having previously served as the Chiefs running backs coach from 2018 to 2020. During his initial three-season tenure in Kansas City, he was a key member of the coaching staff that led the team to a victory in Super Bowl LIV. His existing relationship with head coach Andy Reid and knowledge of the team's offensive system makes him a significant candidate for the role.
Since his departure from Kansas City following the 2020 season, McCullough spent time as the associate head coach and running backs coach at Indiana University before making the jump back to the NFL with the Raiders. The Chiefs are now looking to bring his expertise back to their sideline as they look to bolster their coaching staff for the upcoming season.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
