The Kansas City Chiefs have officially used the 109th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, a selection originally acquired from the Chicago Bears in the 2025 trade of All-Pro guard Joe Thuney, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The selection on Day 3 of the draft finalizes the compensation for the blockbuster move made in March 2025. Joe Thuney, a multi-time Super Bowl champion who was a cornerstone of the Chiefs' offensive front from 2021 to 2024, has played for the Chicago Bears since the start of the 2025 season. The trade provided Kansas City with significant salary cap relief while the Bears secured elite protection for quarterback Caleb Williams.
The use of the 109th pick follows an aggressive start to the 2026 draft for general manager Brett Veach. The Chiefs previously executed a major trade-up to the No. 6 overall spot on Thursday night to select LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane, followed by the selection of Clemson defensive lineman Peter Woods at No. 29. After a disappointing 6-11 finish in 2025, the Chiefs have focused heavily on rebuilding a secondary that saw the departures of Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson.
By exercising this fourth-round pick, the Chiefs have now completed the transaction that sent one of the league's premier interior blockers to the NFC North. The team is expected to continue targeting depth on both sides of the ball with their remaining Day 3 selections.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
