The Kansas City Chiefs have reached an agreement to sign former first-round cornerback Kaiir Elam, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Elam, 24, joins the Chiefs after a 2025 season where he saw action with both the Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans. Originally selected 23rd overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2022 NFL Draft, Elam remains a high-upside prospect with significant physical tools. In 11 combined games last season, the cornerback recorded 33 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two fumble recoveries.
The move provides much-needed reinforcement for a Kansas City defense that has undergone a major overhaul this spring. Following the blockbuster trade of Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams and the loss of Jaylen Watson in free agency, general manager Brett Veach has prioritized rebuilding the secondary. Elam is expected to compete for a significant role immediately as the Chiefs look to return to championship form following a difficult 2025 campaign.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
