Former wide receiver Collin Johnson has announced his retirement from the NFL to pursue an MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management starting this fall, according to a report from Adam Schefter.
Johnson, who most recently spent time with the Chicago Bears, is stepping away from professional football after several seasons in the league. The veteran wideout was originally a fifth-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2020 NFL Draft following a productive collegiate career at the University of Texas. During his tenure in the NFL, Johnson also spent time with the New York Giants, where he contributed as a deep-threat option before injuries impacted his recent seasons.
The move to MIT Sloan represents a significant academic transition for the 28-year-old receiver. Johnson had previously returned to the field for the Bears during the 2023 season after recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in 2022. He now joins a growing list of professional athletes pivoting toward high-level business education at prestigious institutions following their playing careers.
