The Indianapolis Colts have signed former Los Angeles Chargers safety Nasir Adderley, according to a report from @AdamSchefter. The move marks a professional comeback for the veteran defensive back, who has spent the last three seasons out of the league.
Adderley, 28, originally announced his retirement from the NFL following the 2022 season. In February, he announced his intention to return to professional football, and he has now landed a roster spot with the Colts as they prepare for the upcoming campaign.
A former second-round pick out of Delaware, Adderley spent four seasons with the Chargers from 2019 to 2022. During his time in Los Angeles, he appeared in 50 games, recording 232 total tackles, three interceptions, and 12 passes defended. He was a primary starter for the Chargers defense before his hiatus from the sport.
The addition of Adderley provides the Colts with veteran depth in a secondary that is looking to solidify its safety rotation. He joins a defensive backfield that currently features Julian Blackmon and Nick Cross. Terms of the agreement have not yet been made public.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
