The Washington Commanders are hiring Eric Henderson to serve as the team’s defensive run game coordinator and defensive line coach, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Henderson joins the Commanders staff after most recently serving as the co-defensive coordinator and run game coordinator at USC. His return to the NFL comes after a highly successful stint with the Los Angeles Rams, where he served as the defensive line coach and run game coordinator. During his tenure in Los Angeles, Henderson was a key part of the coaching staff that secured a victory in Super Bowl LVI.
While with the Rams, Henderson earned a reputation for his work with elite defensive talent, most notably coaching multi-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald. He now transitions to a Washington defense that features a Pro Bowl interior duo in Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne. The move marks a significant addition to the Commanders' defensive staff as they look to bolster their front four under the team's new coaching regime.
