The Washington Commanders have signed veteran tight end Anthony Firkser and released wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks, according to @AdamSchefter of ESPN.

Firkser, 29, joins Washington to provide additional veteran depth and experience to the tight end rotation. The Harvard product spent the 2023 season with the Detroit Lions and previously played for the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons. Over his six-year NFL career, Firkser has appeared in 71 games, recording 115 receptions for 1,207 yards and five touchdowns. His most productive seasons came in Tennessee, where he served as a reliable target in the passing game between 2018 and 2021.

To make room for the veteran tight end on the roster, the Commanders released wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks. Brooks, an undrafted free agent who played at Alabama before transferring to Louisville, was a recent addition to the squad following the 2024 NFL Draft. This roster shuffle indicates Washington’s intent to bolster the veteran presence at tight end as they continue their offseason workouts.
