The Dallas Cowboys are sending the No. 152 overall pick to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for linebacker Dee Winters, per @AdamSchefter. The trade comes as the teams continue to shuffle assets during the later rounds of the NFL Draft.
Winters, a product of TCU, was originally selected by the 49ers in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. During his rookie campaign, the linebacker appeared in 15 games for San Francisco, primarily serving as a contributor on special teams while providing depth to the defensive rotation. He now joins a Cowboys roster looking to bolster its defensive unit with young, athletic talent.
By moving pick No. 152, the Cowboys opt for a proven young player with a year of professional experience over a draft selection. For the 49ers, the move adds draft capital in the fifth round, providing more opportunities to address roster needs through the collegiate ranks. Winters will be expected to compete for a role in the Dallas linebacker corps immediately.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
