The Dallas Cowboys will open the 2026 NFL season on the road against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The divisional rivalry matchup is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, at MetLife Stadium, with kickoff set for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC. Per @RapSheet, the announcement comes as the league begins its staggered reveal of the 2026 schedule. This Week 1 game will mark the official debut of John Harbaugh as the head coach of the Giants following his long tenure with the Baltimore Ravens.

The two teams split their series during the 2025 campaign, with Dallas winning a 40-37 overtime thriller in Week 2 and the Giants taking the season finale 34-17 behind quarterback Jaxson Dart. The opener will also be the first regular-season test for the Cowboys' revamped defense under new coordinator Christian Parker.

The full 2026 NFL regular season schedule is expected to be released on Thursday, May 14, at 8:00 p.m. ET. This is the second confirmed date for the Cowboys, who are also slated to face the Ravens in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in Week 3.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
