The Dallas Cowboys have officially waived defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey, according to the league’s transaction wire per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Winfrey joined the Cowboys organization earlier this year, looking to establish a role within Dallas' defensive front. A former standout at the University of Oklahoma, Winfrey was a fourth-round selection by the Cleveland Browns in 2022. His tenure in Cleveland saw him participate in 13 games, where he accounted for 22 total tackles and two pass deflections.
This roster move comes as the Cowboys continue to refine their active roster and practice squad depth. While Winfrey possessed significant upside as a disruptive interior presence, the team has decided to move in a different direction. It remains to be seen if another franchise will claim the young defensive tackle off waivers or if he will become an unrestricted free agent.
