Six-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay has announced his retirement from the NFL, according to @AdamSchefter. The veteran defensive back, known affectionately throughout the league as "Big Play Slay," concludes an illustrious professional career that spanned 12 seasons.

Slay was originally a second-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Mississippi State. He quickly developed into one of the league's premier lockdown corners, spending seven seasons in Detroit where he earned three consecutive Pro Bowl nods from 2017 to 2019. In 2017, he led the NFL in interceptions and passes defended, earning First-team All-Pro honors.

Following a trade to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020, Slay continued his dominance in the secondary. He was a key component of the Eagles' defense during their run to Super Bowl LVII and earned three additional Pro Bowl selections during his tenure in Philadelphia. His veteran leadership was frequently cited as a cornerstone of the locker room.

Throughout his career, Slay recorded 28 interceptions and over 150 passes defended while appearing in 178 career games. His departure marks the end of an era for the Eagles secondary as the team looks to fill the void left by the veteran starter.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
