The Miami Dolphins are signing former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tutu Atwell to a one-year contract, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The deal brings the speedy wideout back to his hometown, as Atwell is a Miami native who starred at Northwestern High School before playing collegiate football at the University of Louisville.
Atwell joins a Dolphins offensive unit that heavily prioritizes explosive playmakers and elite speed. The former second-round pick will look to integrate into a receiving corps headlined by Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. During his tenure with the Rams, Atwell showcased his vertical ability and versatility, traits that align closely with the offensive scheme run by Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel.
Selected 57th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, Atwell spent the first three seasons of his professional career in Los Angeles. This signing provides Miami with additional veteran depth and a dangerous deep threat as they continue to build out their roster for the upcoming season. Atwell is expected to compete for a significant role in the rotation immediately.
