This update is a brief. We are expanding coverage with additional context and analysis as more details become available.

The Atlanta Falcons are signing defensive tackle Devonnsha Maxwell, according to his agent Hector Ruiz per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Maxwell joins the roster after most recently competing in the UFL as a member of the DC Defenders.

Maxwell, a standout product from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, originally entered the professional ranks as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2023. During his time at Chattanooga, he was highly decorated, earning multiple All-American honors and becoming the Southern Conference’s all-time sack leader. His move to the Falcons provides the team with additional interior depth on the defensive line as they continue to shape their roster for the 2024 campaign.

The signing underscores the NFL's continued interest in the UFL as a developmental pipeline for talent. Maxwell will look to make an immediate impression in Atlanta's defensive rotation during the remainder of the offseason program. The Falcons have not yet officially announced a corresponding roster move to accommodate the addition of the defensive tackle.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
