The New York Giants have signed veteran quarterback Brandon Allen, according to a report from @AdamSchefter. The move adds an experienced presence to the team's quarterback room as they look to solidify their depth chart heading into the next phase of the offseason.
Allen, 31, joins the Giants after most recently serving as a backup for the San Francisco 49ers during their 2023 Super Bowl run. Prior to his time in San Francisco, Allen spent three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, where he made six starts and served as the primary backup to Joe Burrow. He has also spent time with the Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Throughout his NFL career, Allen has appeared in 15 games, totaling 1,611 passing yards and 10 touchdowns. His veteran experience is expected to provide critical depth for the Giants behind starter Daniel Jones, especially as the team manages the recovery of their primary signal-caller from injury.
The Giants have not yet released the specific terms of the contract. Allen, a former standout at the University of Arkansas, was originally selected in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He has remained a steady backup option in the league for nearly a decade.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
