The New York Giants are signing former Miami Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders to a one-year contract, according to reports from Adam Schefter. The deal, which was reported per a source, brings the veteran specialist to the NFC East after a six-year tenure in Miami.
Sanders, a former seventh-round pick out of New Mexico in 2018, has spent his entire professional career with the Dolphins. He is best known for his standout 2020 campaign, where he earned First-Team All-Pro honors after converting 36 of 39 field goal attempts and all 36 of his extra-point tries. Over his career, Sanders has appeared in 99 regular-season games, establishing himself as a reliable leg in the league with a career field-goal percentage of over 83 percent.
The move provides the Giants with a proven veteran at the kicking position as they look to solidify their special teams unit. While the team has yet to announce the transaction, reports indicate the one-year agreement is in place. Sanders will now transition from the warm climate of South Florida to the outdoor conditions of MetLife Stadium for the upcoming season.
