The Memphis Grizzlies are trading two-time NBA All-Star Ja Morant to the Portland Trail Blazers in a massive blockbuster deal, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
In exchange for the dynamic point guard, Memphis will receive veteran forward Jerami Grant and forward Kris Murray. The move marks a significant shift for the Grizzlies franchise, as Morant has served as the primary face of the organization since being selected with the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Morant, a former NBA Rookie of the Year and Most Improved Player, has been one of the league's most electric scorers, averaging over 22 points and 7 assists during his career in Memphis. He now joins a Trail Blazers roster looking to aggressively retool in the Western Conference.
Coming back to Memphis, Jerami Grant provides the Grizzlies with a proven veteran presence and versatile defensive wing who averaged 21 points per game last season. Kris Murray, a first-round pick in 2023, adds youth and perimeter depth to the Memphis rotation as they navigate this transition.
