Former Minnesota-Moorhead quarterback Jack Strand has conducted pre-draft visits with the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons, according to a report from Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The visits indicate growing NFL interest in the small-school standout as the draft process intensifies.
Strand brings significant physical tools to the position, measuring 6-foot-3 7/8 and weighing 243 pounds. Known for his arm strength, the quarterback finished his collegiate career with staggering production over 42 games. He currently holds every major passing record at Minnesota-Moorhead, including career marks for passing yards (13,155) and passing touchdowns (126).
The interest from the Panthers and Falcons highlights Strand as a prospect to watch in the later rounds of the draft or as a high-priority undrafted free agent. Both NFC South franchises are currently in the process of evaluating depth and developmental options at the quarterback position. Strand's combination of prototypical size and record-breaking production makes him one of the more intriguing prospects coming out of the Division II ranks this year.
