Free agent cornerback James Pierre has agreed to a two-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings, according to a report from Josina Anderson. The deal is worth a total of $8.5 million as the Vikings continue to bolster their defensive secondary.
The contract includes $3.7 million in total guarantees and features a $2.5 million signing bonus, per league sources cited by Anderson. Pierre, who has established himself as a reliable depth piece and special teams contributor, moves to Minnesota to join a revamped defensive unit under coordinator Brian Flores.
Prior to joining the Vikings, James Pierre spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After joining Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic in 2020, Pierre appeared in 66 games, recording 94 tackles, eight passes defended, and two interceptions. His experience on both defense and special teams units is expected to provide immediate value to the Minnesota roster.
