The New England Patriots are hosting free agent defensive end Janarius Robinson for a workout on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Robinson, who most recently spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, is visiting Foxborough as the team looks to evaluate potential additions to its defensive front.
A former standout at Florida State, Robinson was originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 260 pounds, the edge rusher entered the league with significant physical tools but has spent much of his professional career navigating practice squads and short-term stints. After his time in Minnesota, Robinson spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles before joining the Chiefs organization.
During his collegiate career with the Seminoles, Robinson accounted for 105 total tackles and eight sacks. The Patriots have frequently used workouts to scout former mid-round draft picks who offer developmental upside for their defensive rotation. This workout serves as an opportunity for Robinson to impress the coaching staff as they finalize depth charts and roster needs.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
