Former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Jody Fortson is visiting the Tennessee Titans today, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Fortson, a free agent, has been out of football since suffering a significant knee injury during the 2023 preseason. The injury, which included both a torn meniscus and a torn ACL, forced him to miss the entirety of the Chiefs' most recent Super Bowl-winning campaign. Per @RapSheet, Fortson has completed his rehabilitation and is now 100% healthy as he explores a potential deal with Tennessee.
Standing 6-foot-4, Fortson originally joined the league as an undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State. During his active tenure with the Chiefs, he appeared in 19 games across the 2021 and 2022 seasons, recording 14 receptions for 155 yards and four touchdowns. He became a notable red-zone target for the Kansas City offense before his injury setbacks.
The visit to the Tennessee Titans marks Fortson's first reported move in free agency as he looks to return to an NFL roster for the 2024 season. The Titans are currently evaluating depth options at tight end, and Fortson's physical profile offers a unique asset for their passing attack if he is successfully cleared by team doctors.
