The Seattle Seahawks and star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba have agreed to a massive four-year, $168.6 million contract extension, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The deal includes $120 million in guaranteed money and carries an average annual value of $42.15 million, making Smith-Njigba the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history. The extension surpasses the previous record set by Ja'Marr Chase ($40.25 million AAV).
The 24-year-old receiver is coming off a historic 2025 campaign where he led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards and 119 receptions. Smith-Njigba has quickly established himself as the premier offensive weapon in Seattle since being drafted in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
The move secures a cornerstone of the Seahawks' offense under head coach Mike Macdonald as the team looks to build on their recent postseason success. Further details regarding the structure of the contract and signing bonuses are expected to emerge later today.
