Former Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III is signing with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network and The Insiders. The move brings one of the league's most dynamic young ball-carriers to the reigning champions as they continue to refine their roster for another championship pursuit.
The deal was negotiated by agents David Canter and Ness Mugrabi of Aura Sports Group. While specific financial terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, the move is expected to provide Walker with a significant payday. Walker, who is entering just his third NFL season, has quickly established himself as a premier talent after being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Michigan State.
During his time in Seattle, Walker was a consistent force in the backfield. As a rookie, he rushed for 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns, finishing as the runner-up for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He followed that performance with a strong 2023 campaign, recording 905 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns. His ability to hit the "home run" play makes him a dangerous addition to an already potent Kansas City offense.
In joining the Chiefs, Walker is set to bolster a backfield that already features the physical running style of Isiah Pacheco. The addition of Walker gives head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes another explosive weapon to utilize in both the run and pass game.
