This update is a brief. We are expanding coverage with additional context and analysis as more details become available.

The Minnesota Vikings have reached an agreement with free-agent quarterback Kyler Murray on a one-year contract, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The signing follows Murray's release from the Arizona Cardinals earlier this week, ending his seven-year tenure with the team that drafted him first overall in 2019.

The contract is considered unique for several reasons. According to @RapSheet, Murray will receive the league minimum of $1.3 million from Minnesota, as he is already guaranteed more than $35 million in salary from the Cardinals for the 2026 season. Additionally, the deal reportedly includes a "no-tag" clause, which prevents the Vikings from placing the franchise or transition tag on the quarterback in 2027, ensuring he can hit the open market again next year.

Murray, a former Offensive Rookie of the Year and two-time Pro Bowler, is a lifelong Vikings fan and reportedly passed his physical on Friday before finalizing the agreement. He now joins a Minnesota quarterback room that includes former first-round pick J.J. McCarthy. Murray is looking to rebound after a foot injury limited his availability during the 2025 season.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
