The NFL has officially unveiled its full Week 1 slate for the 2026 regular season, featuring a historic international debut and a primetime Super Bowl rematch to kick off the year.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the season will begin with a rare Wednesday night offering on Sept. 9. The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are set to host the New England Patriots at Lumen Field in a rematch of the most recent title game. The matchup marks the first time since 2016 that the league has opened the season with a Super Bowl rematch.
The opening week continues with a historic milestone on Thursday, Sept. 10, as the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams head to Melbourne, Australia. The contest at the Melbourne Cricket Ground will be the first-ever NFL regular-season game played in Australia and is scheduled to stream on Netflix.
Other marquee matchups confirmed for the opening weekend include a classic NFC East rivalry on Sunday Night Football, where the New York Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys. The Week 1 slate concludes on Monday, Sept. 14, with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Denver Broncos in an AFC West showdown.
